Sebastián Zarhi Daccarett

biography

Sebastián Zarhi Daccarett (Santiago, Chile, 1987) is a Chilean artist whose work is characterized by a refined eclecticism and a vibrant chromatic sensibility. After graduating in architecture, he started his artistic training through residencies and mentorships with prominent figures in Chilean art such as Eugenio Dittborn and Eduardo Vilches, both winners of the National Prize for Visual Arts. He participated in the first Textile Art Biennial in Santiago and has exhibited his work in Chile, Italy, and, most recently, in Brussels.

His practice goes through a variety of expressive media: from pencil drawing to oil painting, from printmaking to textile embroidery. Since 2023 he lives in Rome, where he focuses on printmaking techniques and textile art.

In his textile research, Zarhi Daccarett combines a deep attention to color, composition, and materials with the desire to transcend the limitations of two-dimensionality, integrating the work into space and transforming it into a plastic presence. His works are inspired by Andean craftsmanship, with its rich symbolic language and intense vibrant colors, and by the Chilean landscape, evoking the strength and isolation of its remote natural places.
