Painter, decorator and designer Piero Fornasetti was born in Milan in 1913 and trained at the Brera Academy and then at the Higher School of Arts Applied to Industry.

In the Thirties he met Giò Ponti and created a series of lunars for him and in the same years he began his exhibition season at the Triennale in Milan.

He approaches ceramics in the early post-war years by designing some silkscreen and decal decorations to be applied to porcelain and ceramic artefacts almost always made by "Richard-Ginori".

He collaborates, designing some objects, also for "Bitossi" Piero Fornasetti died in Milan in 1988.
